(Catherine Fitzmaurice cont.) Catherine coached at Hartford Stage, McCarter Theatre, and More Stately Mansions at New York Theatre Workshop. She teaches professionals and pre-professionals at the Actors Center in NYC.

James Goodwin Rice is continuing his second year as Assistant Professor of Acting and Voice at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. As an Equity Guest Artist, he played Leonato in the mainstage Much Ado, and coached The Importance of Being Ernest. Most exciting was teaching a special topics course based on the work of Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed (renamed by Dartmouth students as "Theater for Living"), in which four Forum Theater pieces were fully developed by students and presented to the public. An extraordinary experience in community building through VOICE!

Lucille Schutmaat Rubin, New York City, coached the actress who played Talulah in Talulah's Party and with the help of ENT Scott Kessler, solved the problem of the smoking cigarette. We also studied "I Love Lucy" tapes in which Talulah appeared and were delighted to hear a pitch variety that defines the actress' vocal stereotype. Another delight was coaching an actress in Shopping and....... who had to compete with on stage noise. Equally challenging was an actress in Side Man who was losing her voice at high volume levels. Another highlight was coaching the actor in a solo production he also wrote: Jails, Hospital Hip-Hop. The highly charged language encouraged non-optimum vocal choices especially when accompanied with strong physical actions. In June, she

presented a workshop at "The Care of the Professional VoiceSymposium" in Philadelphia. In September she returned to Circle in the Square Theatre School teaching voice to actors and to singers in the new Musical Theatre Program.

Wendy Salkind performed portions of Edith Sitwell and William Walton's Facade with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. This summer she played Elmire in the Maryland Stage Company's productionof Tartuffe at Center Stage in Baltimore.

Donna Snow has been appointed Chairperson of the Department of Theatre at Temple University. She continues to teach voice and acting in the undergraduate and graduate programs. This winter she will direct Brian Friel's Translations for Temple Theaters with the M.F.A. actors. This summer she taught some workshops in the five-week Fitzmaurice Voice Work Certification Program in NYC.

Jill (Wolf) Tarnoff gave birth to Samuel Todd Wolf last spring. His mother, father, and two year old sister, Aliza, are thrilled to have him complete their family. Jill coached students for the LLM in Trial Advocacy at Temple University and ran a seminar for the Philadelphia Horticultural Society this summer.

Juanita Walsh, Elsie in Grandma Sylvia's Funeral Off-Broadway for a year, is doing a mini-series on George Marshall for China TV, in which she will be playing Kathleen, George's second wife. Juanita is teaching at the HB Studio and at N.Y.U.

Robert Neff Williams was the text and dialect coach for the Broadway musical High Society. He also was

he coach for the Off-Broadway Pearl Theater productions of The School for Scandal, Richard III, and Miss Julie.

Walton Wilson participated in the five-week Fitzmaurice Workshop this summer in NYC.

Grace Zandarski spent eight weeks teaching Voice and Speech in the Graduate Acting Program at A.R.T. The rewarding time was made doubly interesting because thesummer professors of acting and movement were all masters from the Moscow Art Theatre. Grace was also made an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework after the summer certification. She will be teaching Voice at the Actors Center in NYC.
