VOCAL VISION. This is a panel discussion on the new ten year goals for VASTA, how they were reached, how the past has been incorporated and how the membership can become involved. The presenters attended a facilitated retreat during which VASTA Board Members/Officers, past and present, examined VASTA's beginnings, its challenges and accomplishments of the last ten years, developed symbols of VASTA's work in academia and the profession, and constructed five goals with structures and time-lines up to the year 2005. Dorothy Runk Mennen will present concerns which came out of the retreat. Marian Hampton, will present the International/ Intercultural Goals, including a 2000 International Conference in Washington, D.C. Barry Kur will present the two part Advocacy Goals; BettyAnn Leeseberg-Lange will present the two faceted Communication Goals; Janet Rodgers will present the three pronged Educational Goals; Kate Burke will present the Financial Goals.

VASTA at ATHE will also sponsor
Two Wednesday Workshops

FILLING THE SPACE. This workshop, lead by Neil Freeman, will assist voice and acting trainers with a strategy for student actors to become aware of themselves as three dimensional performers in the acting space. The workshop will give methods to teach the actor to fill the space not only with sound, but with body presence. Professor Freeman's extensive experience as an internationally recognized master teacher of voice, acting, and directing qualifies him to assist in this search. Teachers of acting and directing will find this session most instructive as well.

FITZMAURICE VOICE WORK: DE-STRUCTURING/RE-STRUCTURING THE BREATH FOR HEALING. This workshop is intended for directors, performers, coaches and teachers of voice. It continues the series of presentations of Fitzmaurice Voice work given over the past several years at ATHE Conferences. In the upcoming workshop, the uses of deep release, autonomic breathing, and re-structured breath will be addressed as a source for both vocal health and general physical well-being. The healing properties of Fitzmaurice voice work will be presented, experienced and discussed.
