INTERNATIONAL &
NATIONAL EVENTS
1999

by Naomi Frenkel & Marlene Johnson

Here is a list of the international events planned for 1999 based on the information we have so far. If any members are aware of events not listed, please feel free to post them on VASTAVOX, or send them to us and we will do it. Watch for the International Sponsors of Workshops, Classes, and Conferences at the VASTA web site!

Atlantic Overtures has sent out brochures advertising the summer sessions at the Royal Natl Theatre in London and the Oxford School of Drama (NOT the same as BADA offering). Courses offered are: July 12-39: 1999 Summer Acting Program for Professional actors; July 19-30 1999 Alumni Acting Program; July 5-16 Professional Voice Teachers Course with Patsy Rodenburg; July 11-August 7 Oxford School of drama. All courses require auditions (which begin Mar 15) except Patsy's class which requires a professional/academic resume and statement of purpose. Contact Atlantic Overtures, 3549 North 47th Ave, Omaha,NE 68104 TEL/FAX 402-453-3872 - email: <AtlanOver9@aol.com> for application packet and information.

The International Workshop Festival in London publishes a directory, "INTERNATIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES EUROPE" listing 197 organizers of workshops, courses, and masterclasses held by internationally recognized teachers and artists in 22 countries. It is now in its second edition, dated 1997. The directory is available from the IWF: 52 Tottenham Street, London W1P 9PG, England, TEL (33) 1-44-618485 FAX (33) 1- 44-618486. The price is £10 (app. $17.00 including shipping) The good news is the abundance of training and learning experiences available the bad news is that there are no specific dates for these events, you have to contact theorganization directly for that information. The other difficulty is that the IWF only accepts payment in pounds (a check drawn directly on a British bank). They will send you an order form on request.
