From VASTA Past President Mandy Rees
It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the Voice and Speech Trainers Association’s website. We are a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to serving the needs of the voice and speech profession and to developing the art and science of the human voice. Though most of our 500 members hail from the U.S, Canada, and the U.K., we have fifteen countries represented in our ranks including Australia, Mexico, South Africa, as well as countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the South Pacific. We think our organization is richer by including members from a range of cultures, methodologies, backgrounds, and professional perspectives.
To our members, you are the heart of the organization and we hope to support and serve you throughout your careers. Please take advantage of our many resources and check back often for news and announcements.
To visitors of our website, perhaps one of the following applies to you:
Are you in need of a voice and speech coach?
Consult our Professional Index to locate voice professionals in your area.
Are you beginning your career in voice and speech training, or have you just been assigned a voice class? Or are you a specialist in another area but are interested in integrating voice into your own work?
Please peruse our many resources, including information about workshops and conferences where you may gain additional training. We invite you to consider joining our organization and becoming part of a generous community of voice trainers anxious to share ideas and provide mentorship.
Are you an experienced teacher of voice and speech, a dialect coach, a speech language pathologist, a performer or other voice specialist?
We hope you find our many resources and publications useful. Note there are opportunities to publish in our journal, the Voice and Speech Review, and opportunities to present your work at conferences. We invite you into the conversation about voice and speech issues, advancing the field, and advocating for our profession.
Our hard working Board of Directors (pictured above) and our energetic officers and committees are continually looking for ways to strengthen our organization and to better serve our members. Current VASTA initiatives focus on outreach, international expansion, diversity, and teaching and learning. I am honored to serve VASTA as President, as it is a chance to give back to an organization that has given me so much: invaluable training, opportunities to enhance my career, and most important, a group of incredible colleagues and friends. I hope you find time to participate in VASTA, and I wish you as rewarding an experience as I have had. Please feel free to contact me with questions, ideas or suggestions at email@example.com
Welcome and enjoy our website!
