From VASTA President Patricia Raun

Thank you for your interest in the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA)!  It is an honor and a privilege to welcome you to our official website.  We are a 24-year-old non-profit organization founded, grown, and guided by volunteers in the profession. Together we serve the needs of voice and speech professionals all over the world and enrich the field through our activities and initiatives.   VASTA is the only organization in the United States dedicated to fostering excellence in the field of voice and speech training. VASTA's current membership includes approximately 500 members from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Britain and Ireland, South Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia; embracing professors, performers, voice, speech, text and dialect coaches, speech/language pathologists, otolaryngologists, coaches in private practice, and acting, movement, singing specialists who are seeking to integrate disciplines, and others interested in the art and science of the human voice.  VASTA is dedicated to providing opportunities for the exchange of knowledge. We want to serve you well and to help you serve others. Our commitment to inclusion of members from many cultures and of those from a variety of professional perspectives leads to an exciting ongoing conversation and a liveliness of thought and opinion within the organization. I am so proud of the work we do and the community we build together!  If you are a member, you know how wonderful the VASTA village is, and how VASTA serves you.  If you’re not a member, please take a thorough look at what you'll find here!

I'm a incurable list maker . . . The list of things I most value about VASTA includes:

1. CONFERENCES and gatherings
2. PUBLICATIONS
3. MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES (including the Professional Index, Grants, and Scholarships)

But the most important item on my list of "Reasons I Love VASTA"  is the amazing individuals that make VASTA the very special organization it is.  I think you'll find that the support and interchange among our generous and insightful colleagues is very special.  I welcome you and invite you share your voice with us. I encourage you become involved.

Please thoroughly explore this website.  Investigate the many resources it contains.  Our mission statement, information about structure, history, publications, and the professional index await you.  In addition, you'll find the most recent information about ways to connect and grow at conferences and workshops, and via the Internet on Facebook and VASTAvox.

I'm sure that as you engage with our organization, you will develop your own list of what makes this organization worthwhile to you.  As you grow with us I'd love to hear about what you value, or if there are ideas that you want to share about ways we might better serve you, please take the time to let me know at president@vasta.org.
