The Trauma-Informed Voice Studio
Trauma is emerging as a major consideration in multiple disciplines, especially given the emotional impact of COVID-19 and other recent events. In this online workshop, Dr. Elisa Monti, a voice-specialized psychologist, will discuss the theory and practice of trauma- informed pedagogy for actors and singers. The presentation will include specific strategies that voice professionals may use with students/clients.
Other specific topics include:
• How to recognize trauma-based behavior in the studio
• How voice professionals may respond to this behavior
• How to institute teaching practices that anticipate and alleviate triggers
This workshop is free of charge.

Elisa Monti
is a voice-specialized psychologist with a PhD from The New School for Social Research in New York. Her concentration is the
relationship between psychological trauma and different measures of voice. Her mission is to contribute to our understanding of this relationship. Elisa collaborates with numerous scholars and scientists, including the Helou Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh. Elisa is a certified Performance Wellness therapist trained in the Montello Method for Performance Wellness and is certified in Vocal Psychotherapy (trained by Dr. Diane Austin).
