About the event:
It is with great joy that we announce the first VASTA Mini-Conference in Brasil: “Our flavor, our voice - Empowering Brazilian Voice Pedagogy in Dialogue with the Anglophone World”.
In this event, we’ll be exploring questions such as: “How do you perceive, listen to, research, and work with Brazilian Portuguese and Brazilian culture in your professional daily life” and “what are your thoughts on foreigners' perspectives and prejudices regarding the language?”
Now, more than ever it’s extremely important to empower the Brazilian voices and bring to light our perspective about vocal practice and pedagogy to the anglophone world. We’re going through a period of global transformation where the connections are extremely powerful and yet we feel insecure and alone most of the time. That’s why it has become urgent for me to make the bridge between what I experienced abroad and my reconnection to my home country.

Message from the Organizer:
After talking to a few members of VASTA, I genuinely expressed my wish to be the bridge between Portuguese-speakers and the VASTA community. I have always felt that due to the idiomatic particularity of Brazil, we are not a constant presence in our events. I want to change this. So, my idea was to prepare this gathering with important voice and speech Brazilian professionals (from both the academic field and the art world) and introduce them to VASTA. This mini-Conference will be recorded and translated to English and Spanish so that all members of VASTA can get to know the work that is being developed here in Brazil and also get familiarized with Brazilian Portuguese language, accents, vocal practice and pedagogy and cultural diversity.
